Well you may be wondering what sort of heading is this!!! To be honest, I tried to keep it as close as possible to the heading of an article which I read in today’s newspaper (Times of India editorial) which read -
“The Credit’s Misplaced by Mr. Dipankar Gupta“.
Since India is a democratic nation and everyone has a right to voice their opinions (as I do
), he argues that Mr. Modi has not done anything great as far as the growth is concerned even if the state is clocking 12%. He bases his argument on the premise that before his reign also, Gujarat was a fast developing state with growth rates close to 10-13%. He notes that all the hard work done by Gujarat since its inception in 1960 was done much before Mr. Modi was made the CM. He goes on to say that Gujarat infact has slided down the rankings of Human Development Index and has fallen behind Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
He carries on his litany to include esteemed industrialists as well of the likes of Mr. Anil Ambani, Mr. Ratan Tata and Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal who envision in him the future prime minister of India.
Well as I said earlier, since India is a democratic country and everyone has the right to voice their opinions, it seems people do use that right effectively.
Ok let me make things straight. I don’t belong to any party nor I have any pre-dispositions. So it does not matter if it is Congress or BJP. What matters to me is good governance. If any party is able to provide that, as an Indian citizen, I am happy and satisfied.
So going back to the article on misplaced credits, I fail to understand why should credit not be given to a guy who has carried on the steep growth rate? Why credit should not be given to a guy who is seen by industrialists as the CEO of the state and not the CM? Why shouldn’t the guy get credits for keeping favorable policies for investments to flow in??
We have numerous examples in Indian politics where the good work done by the previous government is been shattered by the new government. So if the growth momentum is kept at the same pace, why should we hesitate to give the guy his duly earned credits?
There are many questions like these and too few answers. Please help me search for reasonable honest answers which are without any colors.
